Cabin Classes

Economy

The most economical, yet comfortable way to fly, Economy class on Air New Zealand features the latest seat design for maximum comfort and space. Leg room ranges from an industry standard 31 inch seat pitch to a more generous 34 inch pitch depending on the fare class ticketed and seat position in the cabin. For added comfort, adjustable headrests are can be moved to provide head and neck support.

A unique feature offered on the Boeing Triple 7 – 300 aircraft is the Economy Skycouch. Available on selected routes, the Skycouch is a set of three seats that transform into a flat space. Footrests are raised to an even position with the seat cushion to offer a total flat space.

Entertainment: Personal seat back video screens are available on all Boeing wide-body aircraft operating international routes. Select from a wide range of on-demand entertainment that includes the latest movie releases, favourite classics and TV shows, music and games. Touch screen technology allows for easy screen navigation and headphones are provided at each seat.

Food and Beverage: For long haul flights to Asia, North America and London, the complimentary meal and beverage service includes a hot meal selection and a wide variety of drinks, including premium New Zealand wine.

Premium Economy

Premium Economy is available on flights operated by Boeing 777 and 747 aircraft and is located in a designated cabin that is separate from the economy section. Added space and greater comfort are what sets Premium Economy apart. Wide seats, superior leg room and 50% more recline are all features on the Premium Economy seat. A leg rest and foot bar as well as four-way adjustable headrests add an additional level of comfort.

Premium Economy on the Triple 7-300 brings state-of-the-art, generously appointed seats to new levels. These seats are fitted within a shell like enclosure and set at a slight angle. The cleverly designed angled seats have the dual function of maximising privacy or allowing for more open space when travelling with a companion. When in the reclined position, the seat stays within the confines of its shell to prevent the person seated in front from intruding on the personal space of those seated behind.  In-seat power points are also available to charge personal electronic devices.

Entertainment: Over 580 hours of entertainment choices are available for on-demand viewing. Watch the latest movie, TV shows and news or just sit back and relax while listening to the huge music collection. For those who bring their own entertainment on board, most wide-body aircraft feature USB power connections to allow for continued use of personal devices.

Food and Beverage: Chef inspired meal options are available in Premium Economy and matched with the finest New Zealand wines. Meals are served on crockery with special Air New Zealand cutlery. Snacks in between meals are also available and can be ordered directly from the seat back touch screen on Boeing 777-300 aircraft. The Boeing 777-200 and 747 fleet also feature a refreshment bar.

Business Premier

The Business Premier cabin is the ultimate in in-flight luxury. The armchair converts into one of the longest lie-flat beds in the industry and comes with a plush duvet and fluffy pillow. Personal space is generous with convenient storage areas for small travel accessories and an out of the way shelf for a beverage or personal belongings. On some aircraft, the ottoman footrest even doubles as a visitor’s seat for meal times or a quick catch up.

Entertainment: On-demand entertainment not only features a long list of movies, shows and music programming, but also includes superior quality noise cancelling headsets. Power points and USB ports are also available for laptop and tablet use.

Food and Beverage: An extensive menu is featured in Business Premier with fresh New Zealand produce and wine on offer. Dine privately or invite a guest to join you for a sumptuous meal individually prepared and served in courses. If you’re feeling hungry in between meal times, snacks may be ordered from the personal video screen on Boeing 777-300 aircraft or retrieved from the refreshment bar on 777-200s and 747s.
