Thinking of taking the family on a once in a lifetime holiday? California s the perfect destination that offer families a wide range of activities and amenities to make the most of their getaway. Cathrine Bannon from our Masterton store has recently returned from a family holiday in Anaheim and has shared her top tips when travelling to the adventure state.
- If you’re heading to Disneyland buy a 2 day or more Park Hopper ticket to gain entry to both Disneyland and Disney’s Adventure Park as the Adventure Park has big thrill rides not to be missed. The park hopper tickets also get you an early entry one day to enter the park 1 hour before opening to the general public.
- If you’re after big thrill rides, Knottsberry Farm has more roller coasters and adult rides than the Disney Parks and it’s only 10 minutes drive from Anaheim.
- For great shopping take a trip to the Citadel Outlet Mall, about 20 minutes drive from Anaheim with top name brands offering 30-70% off normal retail prices. There is a shuttle that picks up from some Anaheim hotels for USD$14 round trip per adult and USD$10 per child.
- Universal Studios is hugely entertaining with various shows during the day as well as rides and the backlot trolley tour showing you around various movie sets. When you first arrive head to the lower lot and experience the “Jurassic Park and Revenge of the Mummy” rides before the queues get too long. Citywalk is right outside with plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you busy plus you may get to spot a few celebrities here!
Tip: Most theme parks don’t let you take your own food into the parks although Disneyland will allow fruit and they will all allow bottled water. Bags are searched before entering, however the bag searches are not very thorough!
