Arthurs Lake Information

Arthur's Lake in the central highland region of Tasmania is famous as a brown trout fishery with some of the best fly fishing in the world. There is good fishing throughout the season but during the summer the mayfly hatches provide spectacular fishing opportunities. The stretches of shallow water covered with grasses and weed beds provide fertile breeding grounds for the mayfly. The trout are easy to catch and of a good size.

Lake Arthur is a hydro electric storage facility. The water is crystal clear and surrounded by towering eucaplypts, many of which were flooded creating the impression of an underwater forest. Shallow grassy foreshores make it ideal for shore fishing.
