During the summer, rolling green hills sprout beautiful wild flowers and can be explored via laid down walking tracks. The agricultural history of the location can be experienced by visiting old huts and houses of the men who saw their cattle through the region.
Bogong High Plains is also an important site for scientific research. In 1947 an area was set up to investigate the effects of cattle grazing in the area. The research continued until 2005 and is one of the longest continuous series of eco data in Australia. Grazing is now excluded from the location as a result of the scientific evidence provided by the research.
