Established in 1976 by John and Val Pohlman, Pohlmans Nursery is the largest independently owned nursery in the state of Queensland and one of the largest in Australia. The nursery is located at Gatton in the Lockyer Valley region, 100 kilometres west of Brisbane on the East Coast of Australia. The nursery complex comprises 150 acres, of which 35 acres is devoted to intensive plant production.

Operated by the first and second generations of the family the company provides a diversity of employment for up to 220 people during peak. Pohlmans Nursery is the largest employer in the region and injects approximately AUD9-million dollars into the Gatton and Toowoomba communities by way of wages and purchases from local business. Millions more are directed to Queensland and interstate businesses.

As a N.I.A.S.A. (Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia) accredited nursery, the nursery produces under the best practice guidelines for the nursery industry ensuring growing is in an efficient and environmentally responsible manner. The nursery is at the forefront of leading edge technology from around the world to ensure efficient production techniques.
