Occupying Victoria's eastern corner, Gippsland has a diverse and vast landscape which includes miles of unspoilt beaches (including the famed 90 mile beach), huge tranquil lakes and rugged mountain ranges.
One of the more famous locations is Wilsons Promontory, renowned for its stunning bush ocean views fabulous walking tracks. Central Gippsland is also gourmet country, with dozens of wineries, many which offer cellar door tastings, local cheese-makers, fresh produce markets, and farms growing all manner of fruits and berries.

There are historic gold mining towns and old maritime villages such as Walhalla and Port Albert, or head to the slopes for some skiing at Mt Baw Baw, which has the closest ski resort to Melbourne.
Gippsland's Lakes are fed by five major rivers and bordered by Ninety Mile Beach. The lakes are an aquatic playground and are great for sailing and boating or just to take a swim or go fishing. Enjoy the great outdoors while dining at a local pub or lakeside restaurant, have a picnic by a creek or river, or simply enjoy a leisurely walk along the waterfront at villages like Paynesville, Lakes Entrance or Metung.
Further east is the Croajingolong National Park, which has been designated as a World Biosphere Reserve and has more than 100 kilometres of untouched coastline and natural hinterland. It's is a popular place to go hiking, surfing, bird or wildlife watching. Mallacoota is a good town to base yourself while exploring the park and also has great fishing and boating.
