The Mornington Peninsula's historic seaside villages, rolling hills of olive groves and abundant vineyards give this area close to Melbourne a European feel. There are more than 17 golf courses on the peninsula - some with breathtaking views from the green. The region is dotted with some of Australia's best sandy beaches surrounded by rolling hills and quaint villages. Their are majestic coastal walks, and stylish villages with galleries, eateries and boutique shopping.
Head inland to the vineyards and orchards up on the hills around Main Ridge and Red Hill, here you can visit wineries, cafes, and restaurants overlooking the beaches of the peninsula and the waters of Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay. Many of the Mornington Peninsula's orchards sell fresh produce at the farm-gate so keep your eyes open for some bargains.

If golfing is your thing then the Mornington Peninsula should be near to the top of your list when holidaying in Victoria. Take on the challengin Moonah Links course, designed especially for the Australian Open, or head to the Scottish style Dunes course, recently rated as being among the top 15 golf courses in Australia.
The penisula has many grand historic houses and some wonderful old gardens, lending an air of elegance to the area. It has also been a retreat for craft makers and artists for moreover 100 years, so there are scores of small galleries selling original works as well as local craft markets and shops.
