Many destinations make the claim of having it all but Perth simply lives it all-sunny beaches, blue skies, balmy nights, sumptuous food and a smorgasbord of entertainment and fun. West of the city are pristine oceans and long beaches, to the east are rolling hills and the stunning Swan River which flows through the city's heart. Such a diversity of landscape produces the opportunity to enjoy all sorts of experiences: Kick back on Scarborough beach or perhaps learn to surf, picnic by the magnificent Swan River in one of Perth's many parks or head inland to explore the Perth Hills or the Swan Valley.
Perth's climate means plenty of outdoor living takes place here and getting into, out-on or beside the water is the norm. Perth has superb surfing, sailing, fishing and diving all in easy reach of the city. Al fresco dining is also part of the everyday enjoyment of Perth not just a treat enjoyed every now and then. With plentiful fresh seafood and great locally grown and produced wines and produce, you'd struggle to find a better dining experience anywhere in Australia.
Around the city itself there is more than enough to keep you busy, with good shopping, theatres, galleries and museums. However while you are there take the time to do a ferry ride across to nearby Rottnest Island and enjoy it's laid-back beachside vibe. This Perth institution has idyllic bays and gorgeous beaches where you can swim in clear waters or perhaps you will choose to hire a bike for a relaxing ride around the island.
