Take a great steam train day trip from Sydney Central and suburbs to the Thirlmere Festival of Steam. An exciting and feature-packed annual event - now in its 23rd year - celebrating the first weekend of steam excitement at Thirlmere for 2012.

Steam out of the city to Thirlmere village - home of NSW's rail heritage - situated in the attractive Southern Highlands foothills.

Settle back in 1930s style as the locomotive huffs and puffs through the suburbs - lift up the window by your seat and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of steam.

At Thirlmere, the village comes alive with street parades, steam machinery and historic vehicles, food, music, entertainment, country crafts and displays.

Visit Trainworks and experience a living museum amongst the largest display of heritage trains in NSW.

Take a ride on the Thirlmere Heritage Railway steam trains. Frequent shuttle journeys depart Thirlmere Station.
