Bali Travel Guide

Bali is blessed with it's own brand of magic, it's obvious as soon as you get off the plane. Not only is Bali warm, tropical and beautiful, many travellers return over and over again just to spend some time experiencing the spirit and atmosphere of this unique Indonesian island and it's people. But regardless if it is your first visit or your twentieth, you will enjoy a welcome 

Bali has a rich diversity of experiences on offer. There are party towns right through to sleepy getaways, white sandy beaches, steamy and verdant jungles, lively markets and reverent Hindu temples. It is easy to underestimate Bali, many come for the relaxation which has evolved into something akin an art form here. You will be forgetting the streeses of normal life before you are even aware of it, here the mind settles into a more natural state of being, where a smile is always on your face.

Each of the area around the island of Bali has it's own unique charms and attractions, and getting from one to the other is simple enough that you can take in several regions in a single holiday if the mood takes you.

For close to three decades Kuta Beach has been a key destination for all kinds of travellers, with its stunning sunsets, surf and long sandy beach. There is plenty of affordable accommodation, some fantastic shopping and a multitude of restaurants, bars and nightlife options to go with the gifts of nature. But while Kuta is Bali's best known destination it is far from the only one worth considering. Just to the south is familiy friendly Tuban, or the sleepy fishing village of Jimbaran Bay and it's amazing seafood restaurants along the beach. Uluwatu is further south again and has some of the best surf beaches around, although accommodation here is limited and it is a little further away from the action of Kuta.

To the north the laid back atmospheres of Seminyak and Legian villages also have pleny to attract travellers, including some of Bali's best resorts, cute bungalows and a challenging surf beach.

If it's a luxury holdiay you are after then check out Nusa Dua, here you will find world class resorts, spas and hotels, nestled along a stretch of white sand and clear water. Time in Nusa Dua is typically spent swimming, relaxing in the sun or under the shade of a palm tree, wandering among the local galleries and boutique stores or dining out in fine style. If Nusa Dua is a little on the expensive side then perhaps consider Tanjung Benoa which has many of the same attributes but at more affordable rates.

Famous for it's sunrises, Sanur is more relaxed and quieter than Kuta. While still offering plenty of good places to stay, restaurants and bars, it has also held on to many of it's traditions. Here there are traditional temples alongside the beach, and the quiet lagoon is perfect for families.

A world away from the hustle of Kuta and the capital of Denpasar, Ubud is the tranquil centre of Bali's cultural charms. This is the place to enjoy music, dance and art. Ubud is also home to some brilliant places for a more spiritual escape, with health spas, yoga retreats and meditiation centres all on offer. Close to the unspoilt jungles you can also enjoy wildlife escapes but watch out for the naughty monkeys which delight in stealing from unsuspecting tourists.

Get out into the regional areas of Bali for a look at wild and untamed jungles, sparkling waterfalls and tiny villages. Along your journey you will discover fresh local seafood, secluded beaches, ancient temples and black beaches.

Bali is a place that will capture your imagination and where you can relax, unwind and enjoy yourself in stunning surroundings among a culture that is at once exotic but also welcoming.
