Kuta Information

Kuta is the centre of tourism in one of Asia's most popular destinations, Bali. It is situated on the southern part of the island on a peninsula adjacent to Jimbaran and is an area that has been extensively developed to cater for the thousands that flock here each year to enjoy the ideallic beaches, warm waters and cultural fascinations of the area.

Kuta has heaps of accommodation options from the finest luxury resorts to down and basic backpacker dorms and everything in between. There are also a proliferation of markets and shops with T-Shirts, wooden souvenirs, electronics and fresh food.

Originally the area was a fishing settlement but it was the first area of the island that was developed to cater for tourism. Kuta has expanded considerably since these early times and has now joined with it's northern neighbor Legian which has become popular as a place to live for expats who can't bear to leave Bali.

Kuta had some unwelcome attention in 2002 with a terrorist attack which resulted in the death of 202 people. Another bomb killed a further 26 people a few years later. Both of these had a greatly damaging effect on Bali's reputation as the ideal holiday getaway. However several years on and with no further trouble, Bali has come shining through and has regained it's reputation as a safe and beautiful holiday destination. The wonderful spirit of the Balinese people has allowed Bali to continue it's existence as one of the best tropical getaways in Asia.
