The Northland region of New Zealand is located on the (you guessed it) northern end of the North Island. The climate and lifestyle are subtropical and with coastlands on both sides and forests inland there is a distinctly outdoors lifestyle here. If you want to get away from it all this is the place to come. Most of the coastline is undeveloped and unspoilt so there is rich and diverse marine life all around. It's also a great place for swimming sailing and scuba diving, as well as just about any other aquatic adventure you can imagine.

If you're looking for a beach holiday unlike any other then you're sure to find it here. There are so many beaches in Northland that to find one without a soul on it is not even a difficult challenge. And the rare kauri forests inland offer great hiking trails and have some of the tallest trees in the country.
The history of Northland is also rich as the country was colonised from north to south so the very first Polynesian explorers are thought to have landed here before any point south. So too with European discovery with traders and whalers making landfall here. The exquisite Bay of Plenty on the north-eastern shore was home to the first permanent European settlement and has some of the oldest buildings in all of New Zealand.
Northlands gives visitors a taste of New Zealand without any fancy sauces or garnishes. It's a full course meal of home cooking with flavours, sights and experiences that will leave you completely full but always hungry for more!
