One of the most popular tourist destinations in the world is the Eastern Caribbean region running between North and South America and east of Central America. With two major zones, the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands, St Lucia is the second largest island in the Windward region located 26 miles north of St Vincent and 21 miles south of Martinique.

The beautiful volcanic island of St Lucia boasts unspoilt beaches, lush rainforests and endless agricultural landscapes. This island offers the tourist so much to see from the spectacular Qualibou Volcano with boiling sulphur springs, to the magnificent mountain scenery and flower lined road sides.

Visitors can also find a unique cultural heritage on the island of St Lucia with a significant French and British influence evident. St Lucia was granted independence in 1979 after previously being undre the control of British and French colonists. The islands heritage is evident in the French influence felt in the patois spoken and the colonial style plantations throughout the country.

Apart from the wonderful beaches and beautiful hotels, this country has so much to offer the visitor. The interior offers rainforests perfect for hiking and in the North lies Pigeon Island National Park ideal for long walks and a swim in its small sandy beach. The town of Castries will bombard you with smells, sights and sounds that will demonstrate to you an island that is truly alive. The island also offers extraordinary scuba diving and first rate sailing. Overall this island offers the tourist an endless array of experiences to satisfy any appetite.
