There is absolutely everything here for those wanting to experience Thailand's natural beauty: there are more than two hundred islands just off the coast with beautiful scenery and soft, sandy beaches that are perfect for snorkelling and swimming, or just lying in the sun; the beaches along the coast are no less inviting with Ao Nang and Rai Leh the standouts; there are top scuba diving spots too some of which are straight off the beach; the many limestone cliffs around the coast are popular with rock climbers all over the world, but make sure you've got medical insurance if the worst happens!

Not far from the town of Krabi is a national park with miles of walking paths in and around the mountains where you can see some of Thailand's most striking natural scenery and dozens of lakes, streams and caves hidden in the hills.

There are also great accommodation options here which are usually cheaper than in the more popular tourist destinations. There aren't many 'money is no object' luxury resorts but there are heaps of mid-range and cheap accommodation choices.
