Pattaya Beach is around 4 km long and offers a lively seaside experience. The middle and southern sections of the beach are packed with stores and carts selling a range of goods to the multitudes of tourists, while the northern section is more peaceful. Thrill-seekers will find an array of activities, including jetskiing, paragliding and speed-boating.

For those travelling with family, Pattaya has much to offer by day. Go-karting, bowling, golf, fishing and elephant rides are both affordable and enjoyable. Nearby Jomtien Beach is also an excellent option for visitors seeking a quiet experience, and a fleet of ‘Baht Buses’ make traversing the city easy and cheap. If shopping is on the agenda, Central Festival, one of the largest malls in Asia, can be accessed from Beach Road.

If you are looking for a night out, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Start the night with a hearty meal- both the beachfront and the city centre offer an impressively wide range of cuisines, including of course traditional Thai food. Don’t shy away from the highly affordable street food, so long as it is freshly cooked in front of you and be sure to sample some of the fresh seafood.

There is no shortage of late-night venues for those wishing to head out after dark.  The neon lights of strip clubs signal the presence of a booming sex industry. Wander down to Walking Street in the centre of town for the full Pattaya experience - loud, colourful, and teeming with tourists, this shamelessly hedonistic area comes alive by night with open-air beer bars, go-go bars and nightclubs.

Pattaya can be reached by car, train or bus from Bangkok. If you wish to fly, some commercial flights are available from U-Tapao Airport, just 30km south of Pattaya.
