With the World Premier of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in Wellington happening today (Wednesday 28th November 2012), "Welcome to Middle Earth" is a phrase that we are all becoming accustomed to here in New Zealand.
The Hobbit may be small, but it has had a big impact on us as Kiwi's and the rest of the world. In fact, so much so, that Air NZ has a new safety video which has been inspired by the movie. The new safety video was rolled out across all Air New Zealand aircraft's on the 1st of November, and was just the start of a two year long global marketing campaign which has been dedicated to the Hobbit trilogy. But the new safety briefing video is not the only thing that Air New Zealand have rolled out...
Air New Zealand have also rolled out their first of two Hobbit inspired Boeing 777-300's, with the second one being launched in 2013 to celebrate the release of the second Hobbit movie. The Hobbit-inspired Boeing 777-300 features the largest graphics and images that have ever been applied to an aircraft, with the images covering 830 square metres of the plane. The Hobbit cast members were being flown on the special Boeing 777-300 from London to Wellington where they will attend the world premier of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey tonight.
