It seems travellers' love of an Australia holiday is undiminished, with the country still being the top pick for both Kiwi and international holidaymakers.
When it comes time to pack the bags for a holiday, Australia still leads the pack for Kiwis, according to a report from market research company Roy Morgan. The report says that over 40% of Kiwis intend to visit Australia some time in the next two years, a figure twice as high as the next ranking country, the United States.
Quite a few of us have already made a recent journey across the Tasman for a holiday - around 770,000 in the last 12 months according to Tourism Australia.
And it's not just Kiwis who have taken a shine to the land of boomerangs, barbies and beaches. Amongst international travellers Australia is apparently the preferred holiday destination compared to New Zealand.
Australia rated highly when it came to beaches, wine regions and city breaks, whereas New Zealand was favoured as a destination for winter snow and ski holidays.
Adventure travel, wildlife and romantic escapes were also rated highly for New Zealand by international travellers, perhaps reflecting that the 100% Pure marketing overseas continues to drive visitor perceptions of our country.
