There are lots more things to do on Gold Coast holidays than theme parks, as Ngoc Nguyen from Flight Centre Auckland discovered.
4WD Half Day Tour
This half day tour was a 4WD ride along hillside tracks through the rainforest of Tambourine Mountain National Park. Quite bumpy at times, we stopped at the top of Mount Tambourine to see views across the Gold Coast. After this we had a guided walk through the rainforest then did some wine tasting in this nice little winery nearby.
Paradise Jet Boating
This 60 minute experience went through areas of the Broadwater, into Moreton Bay Marine Park and past the famous Sovereign Islands with their multi-million dollar mansions. I sat at the back of the boat but still got soaked, so make sure to dress appropriately. There are cameras on board to take videos so at the end of the tour you can purchase both photos and videos.
We took a water taxi around Stradbrook Island to McLarens Landing, from where there is free use of paddleboats, canoes and beach volleyball. There are other options for an additional cost, including a 4WD Beach and Wilderness Tour, jetskis, speed boats and more.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not Odditorium
The Odditorium is certainly an interesting place to visit on Gold Coast. They have a lot of interactive exhibits which are good for all ages, plus a lot of weird and fun facts that I didn't know.
Sky Point Observation Deck
It takes only about a minute to get from the bottom to the Observation Deck on level 77. There are amazing views of the Gold Coast from here, with binoculars to use free of charge. There is a bar and restaurant where you can purchase meals and drinks, all in a really relaxing atmosphere where guest can soak up the view.
Australian Outback Spectacular
This show was really good but horse lovers will enjoy it the most. The performers interacted with the crowd throughout the 90 minute show, which is served with a 3 course dinner. Food and drinks came out really fast and all staff were very friendly.
Dracula’s Cabaret Show
For some evening entertainment Dracula's was very good, although it's definitely not suited for children as the show features quite a lot of raunchy and rude acts - you've got to have a sense of humour to enjoy it. Entertainers did interact with the crowd quite a bit and coupled with delicious food and friendly staff it was an enjoyable experience.
