If you're wanting to say "Aloha Hawaii" this year you'll soon find it even easier, with Hawaiian Airlines increasing their weekly flights to Honolulu.
Over September and October this year the airline is adding an extra flight from Auckland to Honolulu every week. The increase means four direct flights per week instead of the current three, ideally timed for those Kiwi families looking to take a school holiday break in Hawaii.
Hawaiian Airlines is similarly increasing flights from Australian cities of Sydney and Brisbane, making an additional 8800 seats available to Hawaii across all three cities, and reflecting how important Australasia is to the airline.
The arrival of the airline to New Zealand was made visible to everyone when the Sky Tower was illuminated in purple last week - the airline's corporate colour.
It's certainly an auspicious occasion, as the last time a Hawaiian Airlines plane touched tarmac in Auckland it was in 1990 - when the Commonwealth Games were held in Auckland, SKY TV launched with just 3 channels and Jim Bolger became Prime Minister!
