With some great deals on Gold Coast holidays available, Jess Lamb from Flight Centre Thames shares her top 4 things to do and places to stay while visiting the GC.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary:
The Sanctuary offers a range of site facilities including a great little café and plenty of gift shops to purchase cute and cuddly souvenirs. Throughout the day this non-profit wildlife sanctuary arranges a series of performances to showcase the wide range of animals onsite. Snakes, birds, lizards and koalas only scrape the surface of what is to be seen. A small passenger train circles the outline of the property and remember to get a professional photo taken with a Koala.
Warner Bros MovieWorld:
Movieworld has a great atmosphere with lots of funky stores including a Harry Potter gift shop. From the moment you walk in the music creates a really great vibe! The kids will love the live Batman Show and the series of familiar characters walking around. Movie World is a well-rounded theme park with plenty of excitement to entertain everyone!
Dreamworld & White Water World:
Dreamworld offers a range of rides for all age groups; see the kid’s area for little ones. There are also scheduled wildlife performances to entertain guests, make sure to check the time of the Tiger show- definitely worth seeing! There are also plenty of eateries and gift shops, but be aware prices are high.
A great addition to Dreamworld is Wet & Wild Water World, a great place to cool off and relax after spending the day on rides! There are a series of pools for swimming and sunbathing, plus some waterslides for thrill seekers. The current pricing for the parks should definitely encourage holidaymakers to purchase entry to both parks!
Paradise Jet Boating:
This is a great Gold Coast tour, offering an exciting jetboat ride through the broadwater and a tour past some of the biggest mansions in the Gold Coast, plus if you are lucky you might spot a wallaby hopping along Moreton Island. This is a great activity I can highly recommend! Just make sure you wear togs and boardies - you'll get absolutely soaked! There are rain coats available to use but don’t rely on them to stay dry.
My top picks for places to stay on Gold Coast would be these hotels and resorts.
Mantra Circle on Cavill:
My favourite resort on the GC, Mantra Circle is a twin tower property right off Cavill Avenue, walking distance to restaurants and the beach. The service is fantastic and all the apartments are spacious and modern with all the gadgets and facilities you could possibly need. Both Ocean and Hinterland views are available and are very impressive.
Towers of Chevron Renaissance:
Really nice apartment accommodation, this hotel is modern and clean in a great central location. There are three pools with BBQ area and seating, including an amazing sandy beach pool on the rooftop. It feels like a park in the middle of the 3 towers with grass and a gazebo. There's also a games room for kids, bookable cinema plus kids eat free at nearby restaurants.
Sea Temple Surfers Paradise:
Sea Temple is the pinnacle of Surfers Paradise accommodation. It offers modern and polished apartments with a fine dining restaurant on site and an amazing pool area with ocean views. As the prices suggest this is a 5 star luxury hotel with amazing private balconies offering views of the city or beach.
This fresh and new property in the heart of Broadbeach is walking distance to restaurants, Dracula’s & Jupiters Casino. It's a modern and funky 5 star hotel offering a gym, cinema, pool and a zen garden with BBQ facilities and seating areas located on the upper floor. So even though you are located in a skyscraper in the middle of the city, you can find a quiet place to relax and enjoy the sunshine.
