Pack your floral shirt - the USA and Hawaii trumps all! It’s official - the United States is the hottest new travel destination for Kiwis according to Flight Centre New Zealand.
Figures reported this week show a 22% increase in bookings to the USA and a 20% increase in bookings to Hawaii in 2012, compared to the previous year. This is backed by international travel statistics from Statistics New Zealand, showing that the number of Kiwis travelling to the United States was second only to Australia, as Kiwis continue to take advantage of the strong New Zealand dollar and cash in on their holiday of a lifetime.
To help Kiwis plan and book their next holiday, Travel Expo, New Zealand’s largest travel show, is being held in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland over February 2013 (see below for dates). The annual Travel Expo provides travel information, holiday packages, cruises and exclusive flight discounts, all available on the day.
Travel Expo will offer exclusive flight specials for a range of destinations across the globe, as well as travel presentations, information about touring, cruising, adventure travel, travel insurance and more. All attendees will also have the chance to go in the draw to win a holiday for two to South America, Hawaii or Fiji. Travellers booking on the day can also be in to win their holiday back for free! (Conditions apply; see the Travel Expo website for more details)
Flight Centre New Zealand’s executive general manager, Mike Friend, said Hawaii is the hottest holiday destination for 2013 and this is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to travel overseas this year.
“Hawaii and the United States are hugely popular holiday destinations right now due to an increase in airline competition making it more affordable, combined with the strong New Zealand dollar. Kiwis love that they can combine a relaxing beach holiday with the bright city lights of Los Angeles or the theme parks in Anaheim."
Travelling to Hawaii will soon be even easier for Kiwis, with Hawaiian Airlines flying direct from Auckland to Honolulu 3 times per week from March. These new flights continue a strong year for the airline, where a record 9.5 million passengers travelled with Hawaiian Airlines during 2012. So if North America is on your bucket list for travelling, there's no better time to fly with increased capacity. Why not join us at Travel Expo to find out more, book your getaway and maybe even win big at the same time!
