6 night cruise sailing from Venice aboard the MSC Opera

Visit Koper, Dubrovnik, Rome (Civitavecchia), Ajaccio and Marseille.

Venice

VENICE is a city frozen in the mists of time, ancient yet thoroughly modern. Somehow it survives built on a series of wooden poles that sink deep into the mud and flowing water of the Adriatic underneath the city. World-renowned city of canals and bridges. These facilitate internal transportation and have a beauty and charm that draw countless visitors each year. The modern city embraces the whole 90-mile (145-kilometer) perimeter of the lagoon and includes ten principal islands in addition to those of the mother city and two industrial boroughs of Mestre and Marghera on the mainland.

Dubrovnik

DUBROVNIK is the capital of South Dalmazia and reputed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Many writers and travellers remain astonished by its charm, defining the town as the ‘Adriatic Pearl', the ‘Slav Athen': a true paradise on Earth.

Civitavecchia

Civitavecchia is the port about one hour from the capital of Italy, Rome means history. There are layers of the stuff - Etruscan tombs, republican meeting rooms, imperial temples, early Christian churches, medieval bell towers, renaissance palaces and baroque basilicas. In this city a phenomenal concentration of history, legend and monuments coexists with an equally phenomenal concentration of people busily going about their everyday life. So get your cultural fill but be sure to leave time for more hedonistic concerns: eat till you can eat no more and get drunk on architecture and sunshine.

Ajaccio

Corsica's largest city Ajaccio was moved about two miles south of its original location, during the Genovese occupation of 1492. Today, Ajaccio's year long mild climate is a big draw for many of its northern neighbors who enjoy visiting local attractions such as the Citadel jetty and Napoleons birthplace. Ajaccio's economy is driven by the production of cigars, fresh pasta and other gourmet products crafted with care by its local artisans.

Marseille

MARSEILLE The second city of France and the capital of the Provence-Costa Azzurra region. Marseille lies on the southeastern coast of France. The strong mistral wind blows away all traces of pollution and thus provides clarity of air so pure that many famous artists have been attracted to the city: Cézanne; Braque; Derain; Dufy and Marquet. Although Marseille is the economic and industrial capital of France, it manages to remain true to its own traditions and culture, reflected in the Marsillian way of life and its numerous museums, theatres and opera houses.

MSC Opera

MSC Opera offers a traditional take on cruising for those looking for a comfortable and unpretentious cruise in an easy-going, fun-loving atmosphere. Although the vast majority of passengers on her Southampton cruises will be British the famous mix of fine Italian and international cuisine is always appreciated! With so many great itineraries on these cruises from Southampton, it’s fortunate that MSC Opera has plenty of open deck space and lots of spacious public rooms that help elevate watching the world go by into something rather special. On board you’ll find that things have been done exceedingly well: MSC Opera features plenty of real wood and marble and rich, traditional fabrics and trimmings abound. Her public areas boast a sweeping marble reception area and lovely open spaces with huge glass walls overlooking the sea. Indeed wherever you go, inside or on deck, you’ll find that a true sense of operatic grandeur and spaciousness prevails. You’ll quickly find that MSC Opera has the all important ingredient that turns a good cruise ship into a great one: she has atmosphere. Sumptuous décor and fine facilities come as standard but above all, a cruise aboard MSC Opera is sociable and fun.
