24 night cruise sailing from Auckland aboard the Maasdam

Visit Nuku 'Alofa, Vava 'u, Tonga Islands, Alofi, Rarotonga, Bora Bora, Bahia d' Opunoha, Moorea, Papeete, Rangiroa, Fakarava, Tuamotu Islands, Tahuata, Marquesas Islands, Taiohae and San Francisco, California.

Set between two sparkling harbors, the "City of Sails" boasts the greatest number of boats per capita of any city in the world. (One, Black Magic, won the 1995 America s Cup!) Here, too, are beautiful beaches, expansive parks, fascinating Polynesian culture. Sample shore excursions: Highlights of Auckland; Coast to Coast.

Unique in many ways, Tonga is the only country in the South Pacific that has never been colonized. The secret to this tiny kingdom's lasting autonomy lies with its monarchy - rich in culture and tradition; unafraid to modernize and move forward. You'll find Nuku'alofa on the isle of Tongatapu - the largest of the 171 island jewels in the Tongan crown. Hopefully the Tongan people, cheerful and welcoming, will treat you to a version of the lakalaka - their compelling art of storytelling manifested in a breathtaking dance.

Believed to be the world’s largest upraised coral atoll, Niue is a South Pacific paradise defined by rugged coastline, peaceful coves and lush rainforest. Learn the local myths and legends on a bushwalk in the Huvalu Forest conservation area; visit with the friendly locals at craft markets in the village of Alofi; swim with dolphins and turtles; and marvel at the dramatic geological formations at Matapa Chasm and Talava Arches.

This dramatic South Pacific island is complete with miles of white sand beaches, glittering lagoons, small villages, and volcanic peaks covered in lush vegetation. Visit the Cook Island Cultural Village and experience the lifestyle of the Maori people; walk the Cross Island Trek amid fragrant frangipani and be rewarded with beautiful views and waterfalls; and of course spend time luxuriating on a peaceful beach as the trade winds maintain a perfect temperature.

Bora Bora

Here is James Michener's "Bali Hai," with its shimmering blue lagoon. Wrap on a pareo, pay respects at the stone altar of Fa'anui Marae and abandon yourself to an idyllic motu for sunbathing and snorkeling. Sample shore excursions: Off the Beaten Track; Bora Bora by 4-wheel Drive; Motu Islet Lagoon Cruise; Snorkeling Safari.

The intense colors of the Tahitian marketplace are as seductive now as they were for Gauguin. More bliss for the eyes fills the romantic Vaipahi Garden and the fern-lined sea caves of the Mara'a Grotto. Sample shore excursions: Tahiti Lagoon Discovery; Tahiti by 4-wheel Drive; Tahiti's Natural Treasures.

San Francisco

With cable cars that "climb halfway to the stars," this is everybody's favorite city by the bay. Alcatraz, Nob Hill, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf of course you've heard of them all. Don't miss this chance to really experience San Francisco.
