Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Venice, Italy Discover la Serenissima by gondola and ride with someone special under the Bridge of Sighs; wonder at the opulence of Ducal palaces and try on a gaudy, feather-bedecked Carnival mask. Linger over cappuccino on the Ca d'Oro, and be sure to dodge the pigeons in the Piazza before you step into San Marco Cathedral for an eyeful of giltwork and divine frescoes.
  • Day 2 - Split In Croatia, the Old Town of Split wraps around the luxurious palace where the Roman emperor Diocletian lived out his last days after abdicating in AD 305. Today, this remarkable white limestone palace, a UNESCO Site, awaits your discovery. Part luxurious villa, part military camp, the palace is enclosed by imposing walls and connected by roads linking the eastern Silver Gate with the Iron Gate to the west. Within: an octagonal domed mausoleum, temples and a monumental court accessing the imperial apartments.
  • Day 3 - At Sea
  • Day 4 - Thira (Santorini) Your harbor on this island was created by a volcano in 1500 BC., and the effect is still explosive: steep cliffs rise from sea level, cubist white houses glow in the Aegean sun. Sample shore excursion: Panoramic Santor ni.
  • Day 5 - Nafplion Tour Greece's most prized ruins: the Ascelpion in Epidaurus, sanctuary of the god of healing; the Grand Palace at Mycenae, once King Agamemnon's domain; Athens and its stupendous Acropolis. The four-mile-long Corinth Canal facilitates shipping between the Ionian sea and the Aegean, as it has for a hundred years.
  • Day 6 - Athens (Piraeus), Greece High above pulsating modern Athens, the serene Acropolis reigns as it has for 25 centuries. Gaze on the timeless majesty of the marble-columned Parthenon. Down in the city, snap a photo of the colorfully-costumed Evzone guards at Constitution Square; go shopping for souvenirs, silver jewellry and bright flotaki rugs.
  • Day 7 - Kusadasi Ephesus, not far from the port at Kusadasi, is home to the one remaining pillar from the Temple of Artemis—an Ancient Wonder of the World. Marble streets lead past magnificent ruins of temples and baths, and the Celsus Library. Don't miss the amphitheater where St Paul preached to the Ephesians. Roman ruins are also on display at Pirea and Didyma.
  • Day 8 - Cruising The Dardanelles
  • Day 8 - Istanbul Blurring the line between east and west, Istanbul stands at the crossroads of two continents. The city's architecture is rivalled only by its spectacular natural setting on the Bosphorus Strait. See the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace and the Byzantine Church of St Sophia. Take time to wander through the Grand Bazaar or the Spice Market and sample baklava and shish kebabs.

Take time to wander through the Grand Bazaar or the Spice Market and sample baklava and shish kebabs.
  • Day 10 - Mykonos Informality rules on this sunny isle where pleasure-seekers from around the world come to play. Ramble along narrow streets past white-washed houses and blue-domed churches, bouganvillea-covered walls and thread-like, step-laden footpaths leading everywhere.
  • Day 11 - Souda (Chania)
  • Day 12 - At Sea
  • Day 13 - Korcula Forts and fishing villages, beaches and bazaars, sailing harbors and seashores- When Marco Polo set out to explore the East in 1271, these are the treasures he left behind in his hometown. Some elements have changed little in red-roofed, sun-drenched Kor ula.
