Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Athens (Piraeus) Climb up the magnificent Acropolis and stand in awe of the Parthenon, the beautiful temples and the view over Athens stretched out before you. See city highlights including the new and old Olympic stadiums. Journey to Cape Sounion and the temple to Poseidon overlooking the sea or visit ancient Corinth and the narrow Corinth Canal cut through miles of solid rock. Shopping: Take home beautiful glassware and ceramics, unusual jewelry, embroidered pillow covers and throws, stunning icons and artwork. Dining: Indulge in mezes – plates of tempting appetizers like stuffed grape leaves and taramasalata, a delicious caviar spread, soaked up with pita bread and a cold glass of retsina.
  • Day 2 - Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey Meander through the ruins of ancient Ephesus and marvel at the famed Library of Celsus, the huge amphitheater, the marble roads with their chariot marks, the amazing mosaic sidewalks and the superb, rarely opened Terrace Houses. Or journey to three monumental cities of antiquity - Priene, Miletus and Didyma - renowned for their majestic temples and impressive, beautifully preserved stadiums.
  • Day 3 - Rhodes Enjoy a walking tour of the old fortified city and stand in awe of the impressive Grand Master's Palace. See where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood and savor the charm of this remarkable walled town. Or drive along the scenic coast to Lindos. Enjoy the whitewashed little town and climb to the ancient acropolis, its temples and wonderful views.
  • Day 4 - Antalya Discover this delightful ancient town and its many treasures, from the superb artifacts in the museum to Ottoman mansions, Byzantine churches and mosques, Hadrian's Gate, and the ancient Roman harbor now restored and alive with cafés and pleasure boats. Or head for the magnificent ruins of Perge and Aspendos and imagine the history of these cities, from Alexander to St. Paul and from the Romans to the Arabs. Stand in awe of the huge Roman theater and the crumbling aqueduct.
  • Day 5 - Limassol, Cyprus Limassol is the jumping off point to explore the ancient riches of Cyprus. See ruins, majestic mountains and scenery, stunning beaches, and vast groves of lemons, oranges and olives. Visit Lemesos Castle, where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre, and its fascinating museum. Or stroll through ancient Curium and admire its stunning mosaics, theater, basilica and panoramic views over the sea. Venture inland to Nicosia and its wonders like the Cathedral of St. John, the Venetian fortifications, a restored old town and mosque, and the Cyprus Museum.
  • Day 6 - Jerusalem (Haifa), Israel Visit the land of miracles - Galilee, the Jordan River, the Mount of the Beautitudes and Tabgha. Venture to Nazareth, home of the young Jesus. See the largest hanging gardens in the world at the Bahai Gardens of Haifa. Or visit the Nahalal Moshav, a commune established in 1921 by Jewish immigrants.

Cross the Nile to the famed Valley of the Kings and the long forgotten tomb of Tutankhamen and the huge mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In the evening witness the fabulous sound and light show at Karnak. Or take a jeep safari into the desert to a Bedouin settlement and enjoy the dramatic beauty of the sunset over the sands.
  • Day 11 - Luxor (Safaga), Egypt Take a journey to Luxor and thrill to the majesty of the Karnak and Luxor temples. Cross the Nile to the famed Valley of the Kings and the long forgotten tomb of Tutankhamen and the huge mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. In the evening witness the fabulous sound and light show at Karnak. Or take a jeep safari into the desert to a Bedouin settlement and enjoy the dramatic beauty of the sunset over the sands.
  • Day 12 - Aqaba Visit Aqaba’s castle fortress, archaeological museum and mosque. Or journey to magnificent Petra, an ancient city hidden behind rugged mountains. As you enter Petra’s main square through a narrow chasm, the superb facades of imposing monuments carved into the cliffs are revealed, the hues of the stone changing as the sun moves across the sky.

Visit ancient Mirbat, the medieval capital of Dhofar and the starting point for camel caravans.
  • Day 18 - Cruising the Arabian Sea
  • Day 19 - Muscat Admire the colorful Sultan's palace and the Jelali and Merani forts, stroll through the markets and narrow alleys and browse in the bustling souks. Or view the city from above by traveling on the Corniche and head out along the scenic Batinah coast and enjoy the desert, the oases, fishing villages and the historic medieval Nakhl Fort. Then spend time at a glorious beach resort.
  • Day 20 - Dubai, UAE Explore this amazing emirate where ultra-modern architecture soars over traditional Arab styles. See the impressive Jumeirah Mosque and stroll through the narrow alleys of old Dubai. Visit a museum in a former all-boys school or journey along Dubai Creek in a dhow. Visit fascinating Sharjah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its fabulous souks.
  • Day 21 - Dubai, UAE Explore this amazing emirate where ultra-modern architecture soars over traditional Arab styles. See the impressive Jumeirah Mosque and stroll through the narrow alleys of old Dubai. Visit a museum in a former all-boys school or journey along Dubai Creek in a dhow.
