Itinerary

Explore the best of England on a 15-day self-drive adventure, from the buzz of London to the historic streets of Bath, Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. Travel north to vibrant Liverpool and medieval York, then wind down in elegant Cambridge before returning to London. With scenic drives, iconic sights and the freedom to explore at your own pace, this journey delivers classic English charm from start to finish.

Fly into London and make your way into the city, checking into your hotel on arrival. Settle in and soak up the buzz of one of the world’s most iconic capitals, perhaps with a relaxed stroll, a casual dinner or a drink nearby to ease into your adventure.

London needs no introduction, with history stretching back to Roman times and an endless list of must-see sights. Spend the day exploring highlights such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. In the evening, take your pick: catch a West End show, sip cocktails in Soho, or enjoy dinner with a view at the top of The Shard—there’s something here for every taste and budget.

Drive west from London towards the historic city of Bath, stopping en route at Stonehenge, one of Europe’s most famous prehistoric monuments. Visit the exhibition and take time to marvel at this iconic site before continuing on to Bath and checking into your accommodation.

Spend the day discovering beautiful Bath, a city built for pleasure and relaxation since Roman times. Visit the ancient Roman Baths or unwind at the modern Thermae Bath Spa, home to Britain’s only natural thermal hot springs you can bathe in. Wander the compact city centre filled with great dining spots, independent boutiques, museums and galleries, and admire the honey-coloured Georgian architecture, including the Royal Crescent and The Circus. With culture, history and stunning countryside nearby, Bath is a true highlight of the journey.

Continue your adventure by hitting the road and heading for Oxford, famous the world over for its University and place in history.

With its mix of ancient and modern, there is plenty to keep you busy. Whether its visiting one of the many historic buildings, colleges or museums, going out for a drink or a meal, taking in a show or shopping till you drop, Oxford along with the entire county of Oxfordshire has it all.

Time to journey North to the town of Stratford Upon Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare.

Stratford-upon-Avon introduces you to a market town with more than 800 years of history, containing not only many buildings that survive today and would have been familiar to Shakespeare, but also a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure, accommodation and shopping experiences. So take a moment to have a look around!

Continuing north arrive in Liverpool.

Explore top attractions from the iconic Royal Liver Building and Royal Albert Dock to green spaces and coastline. Be part of world-class events - all year round. Exhibitions, festivals and light trails are just some of the experiences to enjoy in Liverpool.

Head over to the East today, setting out for York, a vibrant festival city with Roman roots and a Viking past, offering an adventure for everyone.

A city where ancient walls surround incredible local businesses, attractions, shops, accommodation and eateries, with exciting events every day and inspiring festivals every month of the year. With the glorious Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Wolds right on the doorstep, York is unlike any other English city. There's thirty world-class museums you can explore, the best racecourse in the country and a thriving cultural scene.

The journey south begins today, but your adventure is not over yet. Visit the city of Cambridge, a hub for innovation and creativity.

Housing the University of Cambridge, an institution dating back more than 800 years, the city of Cambridge is a hotbed of history and architecture. Take a punt on the River Cam to see the city from a unique perspective, or test your balancing skills on a stand-up paddle board for an adventurous way to see the sights. Create lasting memories exploring idyllic Cambridge - get into hustle and bustle of the city's ever-changing market stalls, pick up tasty international street food, and climb up St Mary's Church for panoramic views of Cambridge and beyond.
