About the Flight Centre Foundation

Building a brighter future in the communities where we work live and travel

The Flight Centre Foundation is the heart of the Flight Centre Travel Group’s corporate and social responsibility strategy. It provides company employees with a means to support nominated charities through workplace giving and fundraising initiatives. All staff donations are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company, which also offers a paid program for employees who want to volunteer their time to community charities.

We work closely with a select group of charity partners on an ongoing basis, supporting key programs and projects to maximise our impact. In times of natural disaster and emergency, we help where we can with one-off appeals.

It's not all about financial support, with FCTG's people volunteering their talent and time at charities and community groups across the country.

Our vision

Our vision is for the foundation to become one of the leading corporate-based foundations in New Zealand, maximising the collective good that we can deliver to our communities via the charities that we support.

The Foundation’s purpose is "to open up the world to provide a better future".

How we select our partners

With the majority of our donations coming from our people via Workplace Giving (matched by the FCTG) our people are the starting point when considering a new charity partnership. We survey opinion to identify areas of giving and potential organisations to support.

In shortlisting possible partners, due diligence is conducted and the final selection, by the Board of Directors, factors in survey results, organisation values, operational and financial performance and most importantly, community impact.

Our current partners

We are proud to have formed a partnership with the following charity whose entire reason for existence is to build brighter futures.

Mental Health Foundation New Zealand

We are proud to support the amazing work The Mental Health Foundation do. Through our partnership we provide them with much needed funding, and they help us support positive mental health and wellbeing in our workplace.

Their work is diverse and expansive, with campaigns and services that cover all aspects of mental health and wellbeing. They take a holistic approach to mental health, promoting what they know makes and keeps people mentally well.

Together, we are making a difference by raising awareness and countering stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues.

Halberg Foundation

The Halberg Foundation is a charity that was founded by Sir Murray Halberg in 1963 on the belief that all New Zealanders should have access to sports – with no exceptions.  The Foundation has worked tirelessly to make Sir Murray's vision a reality which includes; a team of Disability Sport Advisers around the country who connect physically disabled people to sport and recreation opportunities in schools, clubs and in their communities as well as providing Halberg No Exceptions Training and grants for adaptive sports equipment, lessons and camps.

Our ongoing support of The Halberg Foundation and our annual partnership in the annual Halberg Games, means we are able to give back to the communities in which we work around the country and physically disabled Kiwis around the country have the opportunity to have experiences they may otherwise have not been able to.

Emergency Appeals

In times of disaster - when Mother Nature strikes with flood, fire, drought, and earthquake - we help where we can.

Examples of how we have been able to help out when Mother Nature has done her worst include:

  • Christchurch earthquake
  • Vanuatu cyclone
  • Nepal earthquake

Whether at home or abroad, in cases of emergency we give via established aid organisations with proven, effective activities on the ground in the area impacted.
