Holiday Planning Guide, Locations and Travel Information throughout England

For travellers, England offers an incredible diversity of places you visit, historical treasures and friendly characters. The many counties across England are easy to get to from London, the exciting capital of the country and one of the most visited cities on earth. London is a huge metropolis with non stop action on tap and brims with style and sophistication and possibilities. The city overflows with iconic historical landmarks such as Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and St Paul’s Cathedral just to name a few. London also has some of the best art galleries and museums to be found in any city, and of course London is famous for it's enthusiastic embrace of the arts especially music, fashion, theatre and of course - food. The population of London is made up many different ethnic groups and provides the city with a unique cultural personality.

Ancient villages with looming castles, wide open parklands, thatched cottages, lonely hills, dales and beautiful lakes …regional England is a patchwork of postcard scenery, historic tales and sensory experiences. The southerns parts posses a gentle landscape of quiet country lanes, scenic villages and bucolic vistas; the unique and lovely fen areas of the east coast where Shakespeare was born; The Lake District, and the grand city of Cambridge with it's world famous university. South of London is an area of magnificent and traditional english gardens and historic and handsome mansions, while the southern coast of England has a reputation for beaches and holiday areas as well as having charming historic market towns and cathedral cities such as Winchester and Salisbury.

Southwest is the Cornwall coast, where surfing is an unlikely but popular activity. Visit the gorgeous yellow stone villages and traditional pubs of the Cotswolds and the city of Bath, situated on the River Avon and famous for it's beautiful Georgian architecture and still functional Roman baths.

England’s Northern parts are a collection of scenic vistas, lakes, mountains, ancient fortifications and castles, wild and windswept coastal areas and vast and wonderful national parks. There is plenty on offer in the cities as well, York with it's Georgian townhouses, and medieval streetscapes, and the lively cities of Blackpool and famous Manchester a heartland of football, music and trendy shopping, bars and restaurants.
