Japan Travel Guide

Holiday Planning Guide, Locations and Travel Information throughout Japan

An archipelago of five main islands lying across the Sea of Japan on the east coast of mainland Asia is the astonishing country of Japan. Although small in landmass this country has brought a great many things to the world, from sushi to geisha, plasma TV's and karaoke to Samurai, and a visit to this country will reveal experiences that are just as diverse. It's a stark vision into the future of technology, a profound experience of ancient customs, a giddy ride among towering glass buildings and throngs of the young and tech savvie and tranquil moments enjoyed while gazing upon a rural landscape. There are beaches and reefs, snow clad alpine peaks, bullet trains and buddhist temples, and inhabiting this remarkable country is a people who's friendliness and generosity of spirit will have you planning your next visit before you even leave.

Japan's modern capital Tokyo hosts the largest urban population on earth. It is a buzzing metropolis of 20 million, futuristic in design, trend-setting in it's fashion and restaurants and enthusiastic in it's embrace of all things modern. Just below the surface however this place harbours an immovable respect for it's cultural traditions and a profound appreciation of the centuries of tradition that have gone before. Even the most modern of structures will have minimalist designs reflecting a long held heritage only recently discovered by the outside world.

Japan's ancient capital of Kyoto and the city of Nara are the guardians of treasures from Japan's past, visitors can visit ancient Buddhist temples, shrines and the traditional japanese gardens, famous throughout the world. The serene experiences of a Geisha performance or a traditional tea ceremony can be enjoyed before exploring some of Japans best museums.

In other parts of Japan there are world class alpine ski resorts, uncrowded beaches fronting blue waters, mist clad mountains and old school rural villages which together offer many opportunities to enjoy outdoor pursuits and some respite from the pace of the cities.

Added to the unique variety of experiences on offer Japan is easy to get around, surprisingly cheap, and extremely friendly and safe. Japan is a place that should be on everyones list, and probably near the top.
