Napier is located south of Hawke's Bay on the North Island of New Zealand. This seaside town is known for its unique 1930s Art Deco architecture, boasting one of the world's most comprehensive collections of inner-city art deco buildings. Second to its unique buildings, Napier has a bustling café culture, wonderful sea views and is surrounded by wineries.
Napier cruises disembark at the Port of Napier which is just over 2km outside of Napier's CBD.
Sights to See
For a spectacular view of Napier and its surrounding waters head to Bluff Hill near the port and take in the sights and sea air. Once you've seen the big picture, head to the town and lose yourself amongst the unique architecture. You can learn more about the town's strong Art Deco spirit by visiting the Art Deco Centre. If buildings don't take your interest, then perhaps wine might be more your style? The New Zealand Wine Centre is located in Napier and provides visitors with the ultimate wine experience.
What's for Lunch
When it's time for lunch you'll find a great range of fine dining and casual family friendly options along Napier's Marine Parade. For a more romantic setting try the Old Church Restaurant just outside Napier's CBD.
If you see only one thing...
Check out the historic Napier Prison which sits majestically on Napier's Bluff Hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
If you want to sound like a local when at a café order a L&P which is a refreshing fizzy lemon drink beloved by locals.
A bottle of New Zealand's finest white or red wine makes for a useful souvenir.
