Wellington International Airport (WLG)

One of the most convenient transport options between Wellington Airport and Wellington Railway Station, near the city centre, is the Airport Express Bus. This service runs every day, and the bus timetable has been designed to line up with arrival and departure times at the airport and the station. Renting a car, campervan or motorhome is always a great idea in New Zealand, with all that spectacular scenery to explore and a well-established road-tripping culture. Car rental companies, including AVIS, Budget, Europcar and Hertz, can be found on the Ground Level of Wellington Airport near the domestic baggage claim. There are five authorised taxi companies available for travellers flying into Wellington Airport and the average journey time into the city is 20-30 minutes. Taxi ranks can be found on the Ground Floor of the terminal building, just outside baggage claim. Rideshare services, including Uber and DiDi, are also available with pick-up options on the Ground Floor of Wellington Airport. 

There are lots of parking options available at Wellington Airport, including Covered and Uncovered, Valet and Express Parking all within walking distance of the terminal. Travelling on a budget? There’s also the Long Term Parking, which is the most affordable option and an easy 15-minute shuttle ride from the terminal. Getting a lift to or from the airport? A convenient Drop-off zone can be found on Level 1, just outside the terminal, and a Pick-up zone is available on the Ground Floor of the building. Need a little more time? Wellington Airport offers travellers the first 10 minutes of parking for free.

As a general rule, you should aim to arrive at Wellington Airport three hours before your scheduled international flight.
