The Gold Coast is renowned for exciting and entertaining theme parks. Susan Ledger from our Bethlehem store shares with us the highlights of her Gold Coast holidays.

Dreamworld truly has something for everyone. Areas like Wiggles World are designed for younger children, with an array of different kiddie-friendly rides. The Australian Wildlife Experience gives you the chance to cuddle a koala and feed the kangaroos, and Tiger Island allows you to come face to face with the rare Bengal Tigers. For the adrenaline junkies there are now 7 Big Thrill rides guaranteed to bring out the white knuckles, including the new "chainsaw" which I definitely recommend!

White Water World is a water park right next door to Dreamworld so you can easily go between the parks in one day if you have a World Pass. Plenty of chances to cool off in the heat with tons of slides and pools plus dedicated areas designed for different ages of kids so that every age will be happy.

Seaworld is the closest theme park to the Gold Coast and only about 10 minutes drive away. The dolphin show is a must and gets very full so it is recommended to arrive 15 minutes before the show starts to ensure you get a seat. My Seaworld favourite were the polar bears - there is an underwater viewing area where you can see them swimming gracefully underwater and then flip around right in front of your face, go up for air and then back for more.  There are also rides for those adrenalin junkies out there but be prepared to get wet!

Gold Coast

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a fantastic day trip approximately 45 minutes drive from the Gold Coast. Not only do you get the opportunity to cuddle a koala, you can you have your photo taken holding a snake and even a baby crocodile! Plenty of chances to spot the Aussie wildlife such as birds, the Tasmanian Devil and the free roaming kangaroos.  Currumbin also have the Green Challenge Adventure Park within the grounds where you climb into jumpsuits and a harness and make your way around a treetop ropes course where you can swing like Tarzan and fly down a flying fox.  There are three different levels suitable for many ages and abilities.

If you're considering Australia holidays with your family you can't go past the Gold Coast for theme park excitement and a fun day out.
