Ross Larsen, leader of Healthwise NZ, Flight Centre’s internal health and wellness division, said prioritising annual leave isn’t just good for morale—it’s essential for long-term wellbeing.
“Taking regular breaks can help lower stress levels and improve overall physical and mental health,” said Larsen. “We see time and time again how people return from holidays more energised, more creative and with greater clarity. Rest is productive—it allows you to show up better at work and in life.”
Of those surveyed, Walker said nearly half planned to head overseas for a holiday, while others preferred to explore the hidden gems of our own backyard.
“In terms of where people are going these school holidays, it seems families are trying to escape the kiwi winter with London at the top of the list, possibly because people are using London as a starting point and then venturing on to other European cities.
“Also ranking high is Australia, Fiji, Singapore, Bali and The Philippines, it seems regardless of whether they’re going near or far, kiwis are trying to chase the sun and warmth.
