The island has a population of almost 600 locals who live in the four villages that are set high on a plateau. The villages are connected by a road that circles the island. Local guides will be happy to take visitors for tours of teh islands attractions which include exploring the large network of limestone caves. Raka's cave is one of the largest of the cave complexes and contains fifteen chambers. Guides enjoy describing the stories and the rich history that the locals have had with these caves over the centuries. One of the caves special inhabitants is the Kopeka, a rare bird that is found no where else in the world.
