Tehran is home to the world heritage listed Golestan Palace, the Tehran Tower (Milad Tower), the sixth tallest tower in the world, and the Alborz mountains. 


If you’re staying in the city you won’t really need a car. Tehran is well serviced by public transport, taxis and rideshares. 


Autumn and Spring are generally good times to visit Tehran. Aim for travel during March, April or May, or September, October and November. You’ll still have an enjoyable trip if you travel outside these seasons, but be prepared for sweltering heat in summer and chilly winters. 


Get lost in Golestan Palace, scale the Tehran Tower, wander around the Tehran bazaar and check out many of the other great sights and experiences in Tehran.

Azadi Square is the main square of Tehran and is lined with restaurants, cafes, shops and hotels. Within easy reach of Tehran’s landmarks, it’s a good place to start your adventure in Iran. 


A modest wardrobe is advisable and for women, you want to ensure you have a headscarf and closed in shoes. If you’re unsure about what to wear, we suggest packing lightly and heading to the Tehran bazaar for inspiration.


Tehran is a great introduction to travel in Iran. Most of the city sights are within easy distance of the city centre. If you’re travelling further afield in Iran, Tehran is well serviced by buses, trains and internal flights.
