Both Krabi Town and Ao Nang attract their fair share of tourists but each offers a slightly different experience. As a tropical paradise, Krabi has a monsoonal climate, which means there’s a dry and a rainy season. The best time to visit is from December through to March for blue skies and cool breezes. The rainy season typically runs from October to mid-December.

Krabi is often described as one of the safest places to live in all of Thailand. The peaceful, relatively secluded town has a strong sense of community and very low rates of crime.

Comfortable walking shoes are a must if you plan to tackle the 1,260 stairs to get to the famous Tiger Cave Temple. You may also consider packing a poncho and insect repellent if you plan to do a lot of sightseeing as well as swimmers, sunscreen and a hat for beach days.
